Congregation Ahavat Shalom

Located in Traverse City, Michigan, Congregation Ahavat Shalom is an independent Jewish community led by Rabbi Seth Castleman. We are a diverse congregation of families, children, single people, and couples coming from all backgrounds of Judaism. Each month we have regular worship services, religious school, and adult education programs. Our congregation has a commitment to social justice, spiritual growth, and cultural history. The congregation was founded in 1997 by a group under the leadership of Rabbi Chava Bahle.

Our Mission

We are an independent Jewish congregation open to all people of any cultural origin. Our purpose is to meet celebrational, spiritual, education and philosophical needs through exploration together; and to interact with the larger community by actively sponsoring and supporting diversity and inclusively with harmony and peace-based programs.

We offer a broad range of programming for families and individuals: Shabbat services, life cycle events, Bar/Bat Mitzvah, High Holidays, Rosh Chodesh, Sunday school, Hebrew school, adult education and many, many more learning opportunities.
