Social Justice

In the Talmud, we are taught, "Do not separate yourself from the community."

Congregation Ahavat Shalom is devoted to working for social justice in our local, regional, national and international communities. CAS has become known throughout the area as a leader in human rights work and charitable giving.

CAS Tikkun Olam Committee Mission

"And the result of tzedakah will be peace." (Isaiah 32:17)

The Tikkun Olam/Repair of the World Committee works to inspire our congregation and the greater community to join in the task of mending our social and natural environment wherever it is degraded by exploitation, injustice and violence. We seek to promote and expand Tikkun Olam with new and ongoing efforts in our community and in the world.

From food drives to children's tzedakah shopping to adopting families at the holidays to supporting the Red Magen David (Israel's equivalent to the Red Cross) to participation in Diversity Days across the region, CAS is committed to being a beacon for justice, love and peace.
